Liane Carroll

We are thrilled that Liane Carroll will make her debut at the St James Studio, in celebration of our one year anniversary.

Liane Carroll was born in London and raised in Hastings UK, where she lives today with her husband, bassist Roger Carey.

Encouraged to play piano from a young age, Liane received lessons from concert pianist Phyllis Catling. She developed a deep passion for everything jazz, soul and beyond.

Liane has headlined at the legendary Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, London UK and in 2007 won ‘Best Female Jazz Vocalist’ at their first Awards. Liane has also recorded two live CD’s for their Jazz House label.

With the live Drum & Bass outfit, ‘London Elektricity’ Liane toured New Zealand, Brazil (where they headlined to 50,000 people) and Glastonbury Festival in the UK. Released ‘Hospital Accapellas’, ‘Billion Dollar Gravy’ and ‘Power Ballads’ CDs. In 2005 Liane was awarded ‘Best Vocalist’ and ‘Best of Jazz’ at the BBC Jazz Awards for her album ‘Billy No Mates’ on Splash Point Records, as well as the Marston Pedigree Jazz Award ’Best Vocalist’ for Standard Issue.

Liane’s performance at the Brecon Jazz Festival in 2006 was recorded by BBC TV as an hour long special ‘Liane Carroll Trio LIVE’, and released on DVD in 2008, and in 2007 at Glastonbury Festival, The Liane Carroll Trio made a head-line performance to over 300,000 listeners on BBC Radio 3. Up and Down was voted as Best Jazz Album of the Year in the Parliamentary Jazz Award’s in 2012, and Liane was awarded ‘Best British Vocalist’ in British Jazz Awards.

Liane was recently nominated as best UK Vocalist of 2012 at the first JazzFM’s Awards
