Rosabella Gregory

27 February 2013
Part of St. James Studio Live Music Nights

British singer-songwriter and Royal Academy of Music graduate Rosabella Gregory, is an award-winning music-fiend. She describes her new album ‘Dangerous Games’, featuring Manolo Badrena, as “a musical feast for the senses” and her style as “classical songwriting with a filmic twist, infused with improvisational elements” where “the storytelling aspect is the key”.

Rosabella has performed her music in New York City, Paris, Barcelona and throughout the UK, including supporting the legendary, Jools Holland. One of her favourite experiences to date is her live BBC radio 2 session with “Whispering” Bob Harris. Other career highlights include collaborating with Bob James, and winning the International Prize in the 2007 New York Songwriter’s Circle Song Contest, where Grammy award-winning producer Russ Titelman compared her to “a young Joni Mitchell”. Recent performances also include a double-bill at the Southbank “Alchemy Festival”: guest-performing alongside virtuoso Dr L Subramaniam, at Queen Elizabeth Hall; followed by a concert of her original material at the Royal Festival Hall.

“Her delightfully involving songs feature page - turning narratives and piano detail as elegant as classic architecture” - Paul Sexton, music journalist and broadcaster
“Elodie is the heroine of a nefarious tale that could have come from the pen of Pat Barker or Jean Rhys. The vignette is crisply addressed by Gregory over the top of some ebullient piano riffs with just the right amount of cagy menace” - Rob Crossan, BBC
