An evening of French song with Grace Durham and Juliane Gallant
How would you like to travel back in time to a Paris café in the 1930s?
Come and spend an evening in the company of Edith Piaf, Francis Poulenc and Jean Cocteau for this very special 50th anniversary concert celebrating the friendship between three of the greatest French artists of the 20th century. This Parisian-style evening fuses classical art song with the best of French chanson to transport you back to the cafés of Montmartre.
Grace Durham and Juliane Gallant are a piano and vocal duo specialising in French song. They met at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where they will soon be completing their postgraduate studies. Grace is a young mezzo-soprano active on both the opera stage and the concert platform, and has performed with Garsington Opera as well as in such prestigious venues as the Barbican Hall, Kings Place and the Peacock Theatre. Juliane is a Canadian pianist who has on numerous occasions studied with internationally acclaimed French song specialists such as Dalton Baldwin and Francois LeRoux. She has appeared on stage at the Barbican Hall, the Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing) and the National Arts Centre (Ottawa).
