Part of St. James Studio Live Music Nights
The Sugar Sisters are three solo performers, Ruby Wood (Submotion Orchestra), Stac (Wah Wah 45s) and Heather McClelland, who have been brought together by a love of 3 part harmonies, ukulele and red lipstick.
As three accomplished and stylistically individual solo artists, the Sugar Sisters are able to deliver sophisticated harmonies and arrangements of 1940’s swing, 90’s RnB and Calypso with a playful sassiness and infectious charm. Their performances are always vibrant and dynamic and have the ability to captivate any audience..
The Sugar Sisters were spotted by Terry Wogan’s producer earlier this year and since have performed regularly on his Radio 2 show, Weekend Wogan. They have also appeared alongside him on the BBC’s prime time TV slot The One Show, singing Terry his very own jingle. Other stand out moments for the girls have included singing at BBC One’s Children In Need, The Chelsea Flower Show and performing to a sold out Royal Albert Hall supporting French Legend Charles Aznavour. It’s been a wonderful few months for the ladies, but there haven’t really been any events they have been able to truly call their own.
Until now!
On the 6th December The Sugar Sisters will be hosting their very own show and inviting their fantastically funny friend Tricity Vogue and the devilishly handsome Franky and the Jacks, to perform alongside them.
FRANKY AND THE JACKS
Set within the walls of the wailing harmonica and the screeching fiddle, the sometimes dark and often caustic lyrics belie the foot stomping swing of the double bass and guitar. Here is where comedy and tragedy meet head on to deliver a full spirited testament to Franky and the Jacks’ one and only mantra …“Make ‘em dance”
TRICITY VOGUE
Charming, offbeat musical cabaret from a vintage songstress with a repertoire of surprising tunes and a colourful history of romantic misadventure.
Tricity Vogue presents her own blend of slink and sass - the music she likes to call “cheeky jazz”. Think Peggy Lee after a few too many cocktails.
The night is set to be a wonderful affair and who knows, perhaps there may even be a surprise guest.
