In the late 1890’s, the syncopation, cross beats and hand clapping of black music, grew into “ragged rhythmic patterns” called Ragtime. Scott Joplin with The Entertainer and Maple Leaf Rag; Tony Turpin with Harlem Rag, among others, created a new American classical music, which decades later became universally popular with musicians like Jelly Roll Morton and Fats Waller.

Keith Nichols is one of the foremost, in demand pianists specialising in all older piano styles. Keith is joined for The Wonderful music of Scott Joplin and The Ragtime Masters by Trevor Whiting – clarinet and Martin Wheatley – acoustic guitar and banjo
