Beware Of Young Girls : The Dory Previn Story

18 & 19 May 2013
Part of St. James Studio Cabaret Weekends

Kate Dimbleby and Naadia Sheriff present Beware Of Young Girls : The Dory Previn Story

This is the story of Dory Previn, queen of 70s confessional songwriters. Dory was married to Andre Previn when he ran off with Mia Farrow and this led to one of Dory’s most famous songs ‘Beware of Young Girls’, but her life is much more than this. Told through Dory’s songs, performed by the wonderful jazz singer Kate Dimbleby, accompanied by pianist Naadia Sheriff, with film projections and between-song humorous banter, this is a theatrical recreation of key elements of Previn’s life and a snap-shop of a vibrant time.

The show is written with Amy Rosenthal and directed by superstar comedy director Cal McCrystal (Peepolykus and the award winning show One Man, Two Guvnors).

This is classy and touching musical theatre which made Jenni Murray cry with delight on Woman’s Hour.

As featured on Jools Holland (R2), Sunday Times Best Albums 2012 and a recent run at the London Hippodrome.

‘In an age where audiences are driven to elation by screeching high-belt notes, special effects and reality TV searches, a touching, raw-voiced storyteller brings us back home to what many subconsciously yearn for - authenticity.’ The Stage

Running time: 1 hours 45 minutes
